Attempting to use many websites on Firefox has mixed results: Youtube loads, but none of the videos will play; just a black screen where the video should be. Facebook doesn't show anything at all except for the notification bar at the top. Google maps and Gmail won't load at all and get stuck in the first screen. Numerous other websites fail to load interactive components like DISQUS comments and some visual elements.

IE and Chrome run those websites just fine, so I know it's something wrong with Firefox. I have a feeling it might have something to do with javascript or flash? I don't know guys, please help me out.

I do not yet understand the full implications of this but note this comment /forums/contributors/708233?last=46007&page=2#post-46006

"Your browser is blocking Flash" - A change to Flash last week makes some flash version detection methods break. This affects Yahoo mail (also Att mail and others that are based on Yahoo). The solution is to switch to "classic mode" in the email program.

If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flash Block that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
