FF help files on bookmarks refer to a Menu Item called Export/Import... Unfortunately, that menu choice is not in m FF ver 13 menu. So how do I export m bookmarks to an HTML file?

Thanks so much, your directions worked perfectly. But why was the Import/Export Menu option removed? And why aren't the FF Help Files updated to reflect the fact there is not longer an Import/Export menu option?

Use Firefox Button -> Bookmarks -> Show all Bookmarks -> Import and Backup

The menu is not on the main part of Firefox. The menu is seen when you open your bookmarks in the bookmarks manager library, you will not see it if instead you use the sidebar or a dropdown menu. The sequence above will open the bookmarks library and make the Import and Backup dropdown option visible for use.

Note Firefox stores its bookmarks in a differing format with more information. The HTML export is probably used mainly when putting bookmarks into another browser.

Have you got al ink to an article that looks to be giving the wrong information ?

John, that brings up another issue, why was the Menu removed as the default option? I deal with many people who are not computer savvy and they were upset when FF removed the Menu option which makes life much easier for so many people. I'm computer literate and I wasn't happy with that change. It seems as if developers think it's cool to hide menus and/or menu options. I think that's a stupid approach because simple/easy to use should trump being clever.

Unfortunately, the sequence described above works but it makes the procedure far too difficult. Why is FF making routine tasks harder when their goal should be to make them easier?

Reference your final point, the goal of the export is to copy my Bookmarks to another browser, Google.

John, the very same link you posted leads to the following article:

It should be easy to display the menubar if you like that.

Sorry I am not a developer, and the forum is not for asking developers questions or providing feedback. To provide feedback use the menu option or the link http://input.mozilla.org/en-US/feedback#intro

There is probably no easy method of suggesting improvements, unless you are a developer yourself and willing to undertake the work. I m not even using Firefox 13 or windows at the moment but IIRC the firefox button is still optional on Windows Firefox13. I think you hit the keyboard [Alt] key to temporarily display the old style menu. Then you use the option to display the menubar toolbar, and that then replaces the Orange Firefox button, and you will have the bookmarks menu displayed on the top.
