I just updated to FF15 and all my extensions are missing. Some having to do with AVG "do not track" and AVG tool bar and others having nothing to do with AVG at all. After a day or so some of them just reappeared, but, the AVG "do not track" and tool bar was still missing. I did a complete uninstall and reinstall of AVG and FF 15 and there was no change-all extensions missing. AVG says it's a FF problem. I tried safe mode and no difference. The extensions were working up to FF 14, but, even if I try to revert back to 14 the extensions are still missing. I'm stumped as to what's causing the problem and how to fix it. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Thanks for the reply. Three of my extension just reappeared again like it had happened before. One being the AVG "do not track" extension and two others unrelated to AVG. The AVG tool bar is still missing but that's no big deal since I didn't use it anyway and had disabled it. Actually, I'm sure that's an AVG problem anyway not being compatible with FF 15. I've read your answers but I'm still stumped as to how or why they just disappeared and reappeared. As always thanks for the help.

Did you reset Firefox and create a new profile?

Note that a "Reset" creates a new default profile with a time stamp appended and tries to import some settings from the old profile leaving the old profile intact, including the (invalidated) cache folder (about:cache) that can take up to 1 GB.

Firefox 15+ versions will move the old profile folder to an "Old Firefox Data-##" folder on the Desktop that gets a number appended if you use reset more than once, so you can no longer use the profile manager to revert to the old profile.

It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.

Delete the files extensions.* (e.g. extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini, extensions.cache) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled, not compatible, extensions in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left side of the Search Bar (or click the "Find Updates" button in older Firefox versions) to check if there is a compatibility update available.

If this hasn't helped then also try to delete the addons.sqlite file.

It is possible that some action (maybe an extension update) triggered Firefox to regenerate the database file(s) and that caused the extensions to show up again.

I will start a new post regarding this subject.
