Download window in Firefox 15.0.1 goes blank after every download

more options

It used to be that when you downloaded a file or program, the download manager kept track of the downloads. Now, the window goes blank as soon as the download is complete. The only info I have been able to find concerning this problem is for firefox 3. I'd say that was severely outdated but still I followed the suggestions. It still doesn't work. Last week, I downloaded a program from the internet that contained malicious software. It was missed by Malwarebytes, IOBIT Malware Fighter, SuperAntiSpyware, as well as Avast. It was named "Drop.do" It made a real mess of my operating system. I automatically scan with these programs as soon as the download is done. All of my downloads go to one folder which makes it easy to find the downloads but as my memory isn't what it used to be, I sometimes forget what files I downloaded. I haven't been able to remember what program I downloaded so I have no idea if the program is still on my computer. I use Win 7 Ultimate 64 and Firefox 15.0.1. I really need the program manager to start remembering what is downloaded for those times I can't. I have been using Firefox for many years. I don't like anything microsoft so I refuse to use explorer. I despise chrome so it ain't gonna even get on my system. Is there anything I can do to resolve this problem????

The super quick way to fix this is probably to reset Firefox - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

But it looks like you have a lot of add-ons that you use and resetting Firefox will remove these. You can also fix this by resetting the preference in the about:config page:

  1. In the address bar, type about:config and press Enter.
    • The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click "I'll be careful, I promise!", to continue to the about:config page.
  2. Search for browser.download.manager.retention
  3. Change it's default value to 2
