A specific web site does not load properly. I have looked through java help, firewall help and have not found a solution.

The web site www.everbank.com has been updated. It has a 3 panel display in the top half that rotates through the three offerings and you can pause it if you wish. It does not display on Firefox. I am using 19.0.2 and it says it is up to date. Everbank has looked into and it displays correctly for them and it displays correctly for me on IE9. I inadvertantly have the beta version of Mozilla (19.2) on my desktop and the web page displays correctly there. I have cleared the cache, looked at firewall settings (Windows 7) and have added Mozilla. Nothing has helped.

It works for me as long as JavaScript is enabled. If it's not enabled, I get a jumble of text as the 3 slides are superimposed on one another. Do you just get a blank area?

Since you cleared your cache, out of data pages, style sheet, and scripts shouldn't be a factor. Could you also clear your cookies for the site? While viewing a page on the site:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

Remove the everbank cookies individually there, then try reloading the page. Does that make any difference?

When you compared with the beta version of Firefox, were you running with the identical settings folder, i.e., same bookmarks, settings, and add-ons? I'm guessing there might be a difference.

To check for potential add-on conflicts, try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions here, then restart Firefox:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category

Any luck?

I followed your instructions regarding the site cookies. It did not make a difference.

I did compare the settings and especially the add-ons and found a difference and corrected the add-on but it didn't make a difference.

The only extension was a Norton Vulnerability Protection that is already disabled. I did not check extensions on the laptop only add-ons. I will re-look at other settings and see if that makes a difference. I probably can't get back to do that until tomorrow (Saturday).

I have found that our version says "You are currently on the release update channel" vs. saying "Up to date". So now I am trying to fix that also and see if that makes a difference.

You can remove all stored data from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry (Show All History or History sidebar) or via the about:permissions page.

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove everything like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions from that domain, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from that "forget" unless you have a backup of the affected files.

It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

I tried all the suggestions above to no avail. I kept working on it and it turned out to be a Java issue. I uninstalled Java 7 and then installed Java 6 and then installed Java 7. There must be something in Java 6 that 'lays the foundation' for 7 to work with the site and a couple others.
