Since upgrading to V20.0.1 copy/paste does not work any ideas on how to fix?
Been using Firefox for years and have never had this problem before. Recently upgraded to V 20.0.1 and since then Cut/Copy/Paste will not work. Have tried Resetting and have even tried a complete uninstall and reinstall neither has worked. Unfortunately I need to use these features on a daily basis and if I can't get this fixed I'm going to have to move on to anther browser.

How are you doing copy and paste? Using buttons available? Using keyboard shortcuts?
I'm doing copy /paste by right clicking on mouse and selecting command in the drop down menu.
Forgot to mention when I copy/paste I select the item to be copied then right click, select copy from drop down menu. Then when in Firefox (email account) I right click and no Paste option appears in drop down menu anymore. I've done it this way for years with Firefox and this just began after I updated to v20.0.1.
The feature still works. I'm not sure why it's not working for you. Try the following:
Hello,
Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"
If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.
To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.
Thank you.
Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I tried both safe mode and reset and unfortunately neither one has worked. Truthfully I didn't think they would because I had already tried a complete uninstall/reinstall and that had failed to correct the problem as well. At this point I'm sorry I ever let the update happen. I'm going to have to switch back to IE I checked and Copy/paste works fine in that browser. I don't want to change back but I need to use those commands every day So I really don't have a choice at this point.
Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Are you able to use the keyboard commands for Cut, Copy, and Paste?
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts-perform-firefox-tasks-quickly#w_editing
Tried disabling graphics hardware acceleration that did not work and I checked and have the most up to date version of my graphics driver. I did have some success, using the keyboard commands works! Its not the way I'm used to doing Cut/Copy/Paste but at least it works. Still have no idea why I'm unable to use the mouse and drop down menus since the update.
Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
- Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
- Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will also lose your personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- It is important o delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
I had already tried an uninstall/reinstall previously and it had failed to make a difference however I did try it again just to be sure. I uninstalled Firefox> deleted the Mozilla folder>rebooted my computer and reinstalled Firefox, still no change. I can do Cut/Copy/paste with keyboard commands only if I try to do it with the mouse and a right click the paste command never shows up in the dropdown menu.
Try creating a completely new profile. Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles
I deleted the default profile (which was the only one in the profile manager) and created a new profile, no change. Still no paste command shows up in the right click/drop down menu.

Thank you!
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
Booting to safe mode did not work. However for some unknown reason Copy/paste is now working. I tried copying/pasting a url into the address bar which worked and for some unknown reason after that all copy/paste began working in Firefox...I have no idea why that worked but it did. I've now opened and closed Firefox multiple times and everything continues to work fine. Thank you everyone for your advice, my problem appears to be solved.
Since last update copy/paste options are missing in the right click context menu, the other ways for copy/pastw works well.
Gewysig op
The only suggestion I can make is review this thread and try the various suggestions made to me. In the end my problem resolved itself after I opened two tabs in Firefox to two different URL's and then copied and pasted the URL from the second tab into the address bar of the first tab (which worked) after that my right click menu situation was corrected and works fine. I have absolutely no idea how or why that should have worked but for me it fixed the problem. There is definitely some bug in that newest update....Good Luck!
Sometimes PC glitches and may caused these kinds of issue but I'm happy it's fixes now.
I had this happen to me... On Friday it worked fine, put my company laptop away, fired it up on Monday and it didn't work. Right click to "Open in New Tab" was gone as well. The entire right-click menu was different, not just paste missing.
Fixed by going to Help -> Troubleshooting and clicking the "Reset Firefox" button on the right hand side of the screen.
@jordanlund: Thx! Helped to me! Help - > Restart without plugins (safe mode), then close FF and run it normally and everything works again!
