Firefox resets itself everytime I open it.
Something is wrong with my web browser, and I'm upset because this is the best browser.
The problems are: - Firefox won't let me set my homepage. It will work fine in one Firefox session, but if I close the browser and then reopen it the homepage is reset to the Firefox Google Search page. - The new tab doesn't show the 9x9 grid.
I have followed the methods of by "Click on Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Info > Show Folder" and deleting prefs.js and then restarting the browser. This hasn't worked.
I have also used the method of getting the SearchReset add-on and this works for one Firefox session but then Firefox resets to the "buggy" version with the problems listed above.
I have also done "Firefox > Help > Troubleshoot Info > Reset", this hasn't worked.
I have also done a complete uninstall of Firefox and downloaded and installed the latest version. This didn't work. I also tried other versions of Firefox, namely the Beta, Aurora and Nightly and none worked.
These problems first occured after installing Freemake Video Converter which installed Delta-Search without me knowing. I've uninstalled Freemake and I've also managed to get rid of Delta-Search. But since getting rid of that problem, I am now left with this. Please help, I don't want to use Chrome or IE. They're horrible.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems. See "Creating a profile":

Profile Backup and Restore
I created a new profile and this didn't work either. By the way, when you do the "...Troubleshoot Info > Show Folder" is there supposed be a file called user.js? I ask this because yesterday when searching for a solution someone suggested to another to delete the user.js file and as I went to do this I noticed that I didn't have this file.
You done the reinstalled already, but it won't remove your preferences, so try with clean reinstallation
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:

- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

just for information, user.js file does not exist by default, you can create the file if you want to modifying preferences.

It won't let me delete the file. It keeps on saying "You need to have Administrators permission to modify this folder" even though I am the administrator and that there is only one Windows user on this, which is me.

It didn't work. I even deleted the profiles for good measure, still nothing.
I have managed to quarter solve my problem.
Apparently, I cannot set the homepage to "http://www.manutd.com". I can set other websites as the homepage without resetting upon restart of the browser. Does anyone know why this could be happening? I've managed to bypass this problem by searching man utd in Google and right clicking the search result of the Man Utd website and copying and pasting the link location in the homepage bar in Options.
As for the 9x9 grid, I can't find a way to solve that. I've even went into about:config and went to browser.newtab.url and reset that which allows it work in a Firefox session and then restores back to the problem upon restart of the browser.
How peculiar are these problems?
