Hello,

I installed IE10 on my new desktop (HP W7 Ultimate 32 & 64 bit), downloaded AVG free and selected the option to include the AVG Security Toolbar--everything was installed. I then downloaded Firefox 22.0 but found no option to install the AVG Security Toolbar. How do I install the AVG Security Toolbar in my existing Firefox browser? Thank you. jav1, 7/10/2013

To turn on SafeBrowsing in firefox, read Security settings. I don't have a number for AVG, but try using their support at http://www.avg.com/us-en/support

Why would you want the AVG toolbar? It has a tendency to be buggy and all it's "features" are included in browsers already.

If you really want it, get it at http://www.avg.com/us-en/secure-search (please note AVG toolbar is a third-party program and AVG provides support for it, not us)

Hello Tylerdowner--thanks for your reply. Your link didn't work but thanks anyway. I tried 3 times (using Firefox). I like the toolbar because: (1) it provides different search results than Google and I've found it an interesting alternative (2) in my experience (about 10 years) it does a better job of reviewing and warning you of malicious websites than Finjan, M-86 or any browser I've tried (3) I like the "do not track" feature which I employ to its fullest extent and (4) it's fast, clean and more focused than Google (5) I've used AVG Rewards on the toolbar to save money. This is my first post on this support forum. I didn't realize it was an opinion page. All I asked for was a simple answer to a simple question. Why do you have to rant and express your unasked for opinion? Life is difficult enough without having to put up with unsolicited abuse. Keep your opinions and critisicsms to yourself unless asked. We'll all be much happier. jav1

To respond to your points:

  1. You can switch the search engine Firefox uses without installing additional toolbars Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox
  2. Firefox uses the Google SafeBrowsing database, and this process has been improved alot over the years. You might want to give it a try :)
  3. Firefox has Do Not Track built in, no need for an extension to do it. How do I turn on the Do Not Track feature?
  4. Again, change your search engine to something other than Google
  5. There are other add-ons.

The link I gave should work, if not please contact AVG.

I'm happy with Google, thank you. I just wanted to add AVG Security Search to Firefox as the two combination search engines have worked well for me on IE10 for quite awhile. How do I access the Google SafeBrowsing database you mention? I'd like to try it. I found the Firefox Do Not Track and activated it--thanks. Again, I tried the link you provided, went through the drill and the toolbar still did not appear on Firefox, from which I did the download. If you have a contact number for AVG direct, I'd appreciate you sharing it with me. There's all sorts of 2nd party thieves out there who want to charge you for installing the AVG toolbar, while they simultaneously plant malware on your computer--but I'm sure you're well aware of that.
