Suddenly, earlier today, the Firefox Start page appeared when I opened Firefox. I have tried repeatedly to change back to my own homepage through TOOLS, OPTIONS or by drag and drop. Every time I close and reopen Firefox it reverts back to its own Start Page. I don't want this, I want my own hpmepage.

Hey hey,

Try the following:

1) Go to about:config (type it in the adress bar).

2) Enter.

3) Search for browser.startup.homepage.

4) This variable controls what page is loaded when you start Firefox.

If its value is about:home, you can change this value to the website you'd like to load on start. Otherwise, try this:

Did you check the target line in the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut?

What is the startup setting?

   Tools > Options > General > Startup: "When Firefox Starts":
   "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
   "Show my home page"
   "Show a blank page"
================

To change what website it opens when you open a new tab, do the same but with browser.newtab.url.

My problem is similar every time I start Firefox it changes my home page setting to Firefox start up page so I have to remember to change it back to my normal home page before closing the browser so on the next start I get my normal Home page But then have to go to Options and find that the home page is Firefox start up page which I have to change to Current Page. This just a work around and shouldn't have to be done but I assume this is a glitch that has occurred in the last update when the problem started.
