When I change homepage and/or startup option (homepage vs. restore last session) on one of the paired computers, the same settings get propagated to other linked computers. How can I share tabs, history, ect. between linked computers, but have them use different stratup options and home pages?

use Firefox SYNC

Firefox Sync - Take your bookmarks, tabs and personal information with you. Firefox Sync is a service that lets you synchronize your bookmarks, history, passwords, add-ons and open tabs with another copy of Firefox – like one on another computer or on a mobile phone. This article briefly explains how it all works and why you'd want to use it.

How do I set up Firefox Sync?

I did exactly that, and the settings on the 2nd computer overwrote those (homepage address, do not restore the previous session) on the 1st computer.

There are services.sync.prefs prefs related to set which prefs to sync and you can set the corresponding services.sync.prefs.sync.xxx pref to false to prevent syncing a pref.

You can set the services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage pref to false on the about:config page to prevent syncing the home page setting.
