From one day to the other all my emails (1100) dissapeared without being deleted. The set back of the computer to an earlier date does not work. where are they?
I had some viruses/trojaner on the computer which effected only my last emails - could not delete and open some links - this was solved by a local computer company and I have Dr. Web now. When I got my computer back I still had all my emails - 2 days later they could not be found anymore - nobody deleated them. I get daily about 25 emails but the ones from before which I need desperately are all lost or hidden. As well all sent emails cannot be found anymore - everything before april 7th 2014. My computer company tells me they must be somewhere - I tried to restart the computer again with an earlier than april 7th date - but it is not possible - for whatever reason it does not go back to an earlier date - I tried all dates for march 2014 and before april 7th. where are all the emails gone? I do defragmentations regularly..... and of course compromise the emails regularly.

Most likely your anti-virus software did corrupt your mail files. In general the anti-virus software should not scan your Thunderbird profile folder.
Without knowing what exactly the local computer company did it is virtually impossible to tell what happened.
You can check whether the anti-virus software did quarantine your mail file(s).

The Windows Restore function does not cover the Thunderbird profile, so there is no point trying that.
Your best bet would be to restore a recent backup of your profile folder. Hope you did create one.
