Under "options" I have tried to setup a master password. The current setting indicates "(not set)" yet will not allow me to enter one. What do I do now?
I tried removing and re-installing Firefox but that did not fix the problem. I have Firefox installed on another hard drive and do not experience the problem. Currently Firefox has ceased asking and I cannot manually enter account passwords under the Tools>Options> Passwords utility. Additionally currently the program will not all me to set a master password to protect this file. As indicated in the opening question (not set) shows up in the "current password" box but Firefox will not accept any of the legal passwords I have tried. Green bars show up after entering the passwords but after pressing OK I receive the following message:Unable to change Master Password. Any suggestions?

It is possible that there is a problem with the key3.db and signons.sqlite files that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.
Rename the key3.db and signons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.
You can add .old to the file names (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) or move them to another folder to make it possible to undo the action.
You need to set a new Master Password after renaming or deleting key3.db and all currently saved passwords are lost.
If that has worked then you can remove the renamed files that are no longer needed.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
