Why are you not developing for windows phone 8.1 yet?
I've heard a lot of good things about Microsoft opening up their platforms for developers. I literally used Firefox, Firefox sync, and enjoy Firefox as my default browser. I've seen a few posts saying Mozilla isn't currently developing for Windows Phone and I'm just wondering why. I know there is a demand for it. It would dominate the Windows Phone market for sure. I'd really like to see it come to the platform so can someone explain why specifically it isn't? What restrictions are still being faced if any?

Mozilla already has their hands full with Firefox for Windows, Mac OSX, Linux, for Android 2.2+, and the Firefox OS.
Mozilla did make experimental builds (Minimo) for mobile Windows years ago before working on Android.

Hi
Please understand that Firefox is NOT available for iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch), Windows Phone, Windows RT, Bada, Symbian, Blackberry OS, webOS or other operating systems for mobile:
Please see Will Firefox Work on My Mobile Device for more details.
Thank you.

Hi,
I fully understand that it isn't available. I'm just sad to see that it isn't and looks like there are no immediate plans to develop for the platform. I just don't understand why there isn't.
hello, originally there have been technical and legal hurdles in the app store which discouraged mozilla from starting any developments in this direction. i don't know about the current situation, but since mozilla is now focusing its energies on creating firefox os as open source web-based platform, i doubt that you will see firefox on your windows phone device in the foreseeable future...
That's helpful. Thank you. Just curious, why would developing for other platforms like this not fit into the open source web-based platform? Is it because the actual platform isn't open source? Because that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
mozilla has limited resources and since they chose to ramp up their mobile strategy with the development of Firefox OS, i doubt that there is either the interest or the money available for developing firefox for windows phone.

It looks like they have said they aren't planning for iOS either so just android. So it's just the amount of people and resources they have that is limiting them?
They cannot do it for iOS due to the Apple restrictions on what browser and Javascript engines used. Mozilla did have a experimental browser for iOS a couple years ago called Junior however it did not use the same Gecko and JavaScript engines that say Firefox uses due to the said Apple restrictions. Some might incorrectly say Mozilla did have a Firefox browser for iOS before it was pulled back in 2012 but that was not a web browser but the "Firefox Home" sync app. Chrome on iOS for example is not really Chrome but is only Safari with a new skin.
