We have a complex screen design, so here's the environment: We are running Windows 7, 64 bit We have a Matrox M9140 driving four screens on a wall as one logical screen We also have a Matrox M9120 driving a touch screen we use as a kiosk, with the R-kiosk plugin.

As soon as we updated Firefox to 32.0.1, the kiosk screen on the M9120 goes all white after a couple of minutes. We have a flash animation that runs on it until the screen is touched, but after it turns white we need to bring the task manager up to kill the FF task.

Thinking this could be a hardware acceleration issue, we disabled that in the FF options, but no effect.

We also upgraded to 32.0.3, but the same problem still exists.

So we are now using FF 31.0 which works perfectly, but hoping we can upgrade to the latest version once this graphics problem is resolved.

I don't know what is happening on your system, but it reminded me of this thread: Why are Twitter and other sites suddenly turning pure white on the screen where I can't see anything?

Can you post the web address?

Unfortunately this customer kiosk system is behind our firewall so I can't provide an address. I can say that having reverted to version 31.0, everything is once again very stable so everyone is happy.

I also ensured the latest flash player for windows was installed which is 15.0.0.152.

Would love to know what changed in version 32.0.x to create this problem.

The usual method for testing a bug between versions is to try a number of nightly builds to see when the problem was introduced. Depending on the time needed to reproduce the bug, this can be quicker or slower. If you or anyone reading is interested in learning more about this, please see this article:

"I also ensured the latest flash player for windows was installed which is 15.0.0.152."

Plugin version of Flash for Firefox? Or the ActiveX version for Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer? Or the Pepper version for Chrome? The version of Flash goes more by the brand of web browser than the operating system. When you go to the Adobe website to download Flash, you will be offered the correct version for the browser that is being used at that time. That page asks if you want a different version for, and allows you to make a selection manually, to get the correct version.

Yes, the plugin version for Firefox and the latest in a windows environment is 15.0.0.152 which we are running. Unfortunately this site was designed specifically for Firefox so we cannot change the Kiosk browser.

It's very apparent something changed in the graphics engine for FF starting at version 32.0.1. Not sure which specific build introduced this bug

Love the idea but really don't have the time. Not to mention version 31.0 works perfectly. Really hoping this gets fixed down the road and then we'll try to upgrade Firefox again or possible redesign the site so Chrome works as well.

I have two ideas to try.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache.

  • Clear the Cache and
  • Remove Cookies Warning ! ! This will log you out of sites you're logged in to.

Type about:preferences<Enter> in the address bar.

  • Cookies; Select Privacy. Under History, select Firefox will Use Custom Settings. Press the button on the right side called Show Cookies. Use the search bar to look for the site. Note; There may be more than one entry. Remove All of them.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;

Poke around the web site. Is there any problems?

more options

Yep - already did all of that previously and the white screen problem even happens in safe mode.

Something has changed in the Firefox graphics engine starting /w 32.0.1 and still in 32.0.3. Can't say exactly which build introduced the graphics bug but totally started with 32.0.1 for us.

Type about:addons<Enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control>(Mac:<Command>)<Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Plugins. Disable Everything.

Also, some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.
