When I try to access Email in Outlook, Firefox has been asking me to sign-in to my account. It never did this in the past. When I try to access Email using Internet Explorer, I get my Email immediately - no sign-in is necessary; consequently, I've been using Internet Explorer more often than Firefox. Why did this change occur? I don't believe that I did anything to cause it.

Hello,

In Firefox, is "save passwords" enabled? When enabled, this can let Firefox save the password for Outlook so that you don't have to keep logging in to it. Also, whenever you clear cookies in Firefox, it will log you out of sites that you were currently logged into. So that could be why you have to log in every time on Firefox if you ever clear cookies on Firefox someway...

I hope this solves or helps with your issue!

Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

  • Create a cookie 'allow' exception to keep such cookies, especially in case of secure websites and when cookies expire when Firefox is closed.
  • Tools > Options > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: Exceptions

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history:

  • do not clear the Cookies
  • do not clear the Site Preferences

Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies with an allow exception that you would like to keep.
