Mail is hanging up then says not responding
About 3 or 4 years ago my mail hung up...I tried to get help but never even got a reply! So I uninstalled...then I re-installed after a year to try again...the same thing...I waited another year to try again nothing changed, not one email loaded but the little circle still going till it crashed.
This is what happens, I open my Thunderbird email....the mail hangs and up the little circle keeps going around then screen goes gray and after a short time the screen goes black then crashes. I have to restart my computer to get back on ...I tried the e-mail and the same thing again...I said I'll try one more time then if it happens again I'll just uninstall it and Write my complaint to Mountain View Ca.
Well I tried again. and this time I had email...but the little circle kept going around and around then went gray then black and crashed. Up in the left corner it always It always says it's not responding. If there's something hanging it up can't you clear it out or just give me a new account...I'm not smart on this thing at all....so maybe if you can't help mountain view can since they created the program. PLEASE PLEASE TRY TO HELP ME. Blessins', Madonna

You have not supplied much info, but seem to be very confused about Thunderbird.
can't you clear it out or just give me a new account Who do you mean by 'you' ? Mountain View Ca...I presume this is your ISP...the people who provide your broadband and issued you an email address. They have nothing to do with Mozilla Thunderbird.
As Thunderbird has hardly been used in over 4 years......
Run through a few checks. Are you using the most up to date version of Thunderbird? What version of Thunderbird are you using? The current version is 31.6.0, so update Thunderbird if not on current version.
What OS are you using?
Please supply info regarding Thunderbird and server details you are currently using. Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'Copy text to clipboard' paste the info into this question. You can edit/remove the sections for fonts and printers, but do not change anything else.
Check this. Thunderbird must not be blocked by your firewall/Antivirus software.
Example: I use Norton Anti-Virus/Firewall. Sometimes, after an update, Norton still thinks it can allow only the previous version,. I then have to close Thunderbird and access Norton. Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Program Rules Locate Thunderbird and set to 'Allow' On one occassion, I have had to block, ok and then reset to Allow.
If you use another Firewall/Anti-virus program, then there will be similar settings. Do not which firewall/antivirus off...set Thunderbird to be allowed.
What anti-virus program do you use? If you have your antivirus program scanning incoming mail, then switch off the facility of scanning of incoming mail.
