I can't move from one message to another, the old message show in the "from" box, and the message box stays blank. How do I correct this?
When I attempt to go back to view a previous message, the current email message shows in the address bar, and the message box is blank. I cannot access any messages, including those in trash.

I am going back and clicking on the previous message to open it.
It is your reference to the addressbar that has me confused. Are you switching back to an already opened tab (in which case there are a whole range of reasons a mail does not display) or are you going back to the folder pane and double clicking on a message in the list there.
Hopefully this gives us a common reference point to talk about what and how.
