Sync just wont Sync
I have never used Sync before but have a new computer and need to transfer the history and bookmarks from the old computer (which is being returned under warranty). I have spent many hours trying to get the Sync to work with no success. Yes Firefox has been updated on the older computer.
I set up an Firefox account and choose what I want synced, verify the account and get the message that the account is verified. I then follow the various strategies suggestedby the Firefox guide and others online - click the email address next to the sync icon, click the sync button, go to Tools and click 'Sync now'. Nothing happens. I have rebooted both Firefox and my laptop in between these different attempts.
Initially a comments box appears saying 'Sync Enabled: Firefox will commence sync momentarily'.
It doesn't. Have waited up to 10 minutes. Nothing happens. Click the Sync button - nothing happens, Got to Tools and select 'Sync Now' - still nothing.
Some people with issues get a message. But in my case - nothing!! Just does not proceed. Have disabled firewalls, etc and makes no difference, Still nothing.
So I have no clue as to why it is not proceeding
As this has to be sorted within next 24 hours as old laptop being picked up Monday, hoping someone can suggest a solution.

So, eight sync events were successful and the last one had an error?
Not very much data transferred thus far, but it looks like it is reconnecting to the server every 8 to 10 minutes and transferring some data each time. I would monitor that until it stops transferring data.

10 minutes isn't very long to wait for the initial Sync process to run.
OK that's good to know - but when I say 'nothingI mean nothing! The sync icon does not turn AT ALL - fast OR slow!!
This leads me to conclude that its not actually working.
Are you saying it will eventually start to turn?
Type about:sync-log in the location bar and hit Enter.
Let's see if there were any Sync logs created.
