How can I install bookmarks from a file?
Firefox for Android (38.0.5) allows me to Import bookmarks... from the Android browser. But I've never used it, and certainly don't want to manually enter all my bookmarks, in order to then import them into Firefox (doh!). So, I exported them from my desktop Firefox (also 38.0.5), emailed them to myself, and saved the attachment as a file on my tablet, in the Downloads folder. But Firefox for Android has no provision for importing them :(
Any hope of this ever happening?
PS: Firefox Sync is not working... some days-old message about Sync Server Maintenance, yada-yada-yada. That's why a manual solution is so necessary.

There is no option to import bookmarks from a file. Sorting out the Sync error is the way forward.

I realize that; but there should be an option for doing so; after all, "sorting out the Sync error" is Mozilla's problem, not mine. Implementing an already-existing solution (in desktop Firefox, at any rate) would empower us, as users.
Moreover, installing from a file is also important for Add-Ons; an example is OPML files for various RSS readers (in my case, Bamboo). Relying on external syncing systems is just plain wrong; and, we see, time after time, that those systems frequently fail.

This is simply not an answer. There must be a way without giving my private data away! Also see https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1095431
