There have been threads on this before but none of the answers work for me anymore.

For a particularly offensive example:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/france/11817490/France-train-attack-US-soldiers-foil-massacre-live.html

The main video isn't the problem but there's an embedded video halfway down the page (11.24 on the timeline) that not only autoplays but when you pause it it plays itself again after a bit.

I don't want to block Javascript, I already run Flashblock and have the autoplay media turned off.

You can do 2 things.

1/ Check the click_to_play pref:

  1. Type about:config in the address bar and enter
  2. Accept the warning
  3. Find the line plugins.click_to_play
  4. If the value is false, double-click on it to change to true
  5. Close the about:config tab

2/ Use the NoScript add-on In add-on's option, select the suitable preferences.

Flash block {web link} Never be annoyed by a Flash animation again! Blocks Flash so it won't get in your way, but if you want to see it, just click on it

I'm already running Flashblock. These aren't flash videos.
