I would like to have complete control when to empty me trash folder. In other words do it manually when I chose to. I was surprised to see that I only had emails from the last 13 or so days in my trash folder. I would like to go back further than that to find some messages. I couldn't find any answers even though other complained of the same problem Looks like they have IMAP where i have POP.

'Tools' > 'Activity Manager' or 'Menu icon' > 'Activity Manager' Does it say anything was deleted or Trash emptied?

Check Account Settings: 'Tools' > 'Account Settings > 'Server Settings' for pop mail account or right click on mail account name in folder Pane and select 'Settings' then select: ' Server Settings' for pop mail account

Under 'Message storage' section. Uncheck: 'Empty deleted folder on exit'

then select 'Disc space' for the pop mail account Select: 'don't delete any messages'

Click on OK

Check the 'Deleted' / 'Trash' folder: right click on folder and select 'Properties' Under the 'Retention Policy' tab

Select: Use my acount settings' OR uncheck : 'Use my account settings' select: 'don't delete any messages'

On 'General Information' tab Click on 'Repair Folder' button to refresh the index, just in case it has gone awry. click on OK

Thank you Toad-Hall. I think the answer lies in unchecking "Use my account settings" and selecting "Don't delete any messages" I'll try that and see if it works. BTW I wanted to try your last selection of going to the "General Information Tab" to "Repair Folder" button but I can't find the General Information tab. Can you tell me where it is or where to find it? Thanks

Dumb me. I just found the "General Information" tab - it was in the properties of the right-clicked Trash folder. So you can ignore my reply above. Thanks
