When I log on to Windows 10 and open Thunderbird, it downloads my wifes emails
Hi I have windows 10 and have an account for myself and one for my wife. When my wife logs on she gets all her emails. I logged onto the same laptop under my windows 10 account. I started Thunderbird expecting to be able to create an new email account for myself but it immediately started to download my wife's emails again.
Could someone please explain how I create an Thunderbird account that only downloads my emails when I log onto windows with my user and only downloads my wifes emails when she logs on using her windows logon.
I do not want to be able for either of us to be able to download the others emails
many thanks
Paul

Are you saying that I need to create a new profile for me and delete the profile for my wife under my logon?
It would probably be easier when you simply delete your wife's account within your profile, and then create your account in case it doesn't already exist.
To make sure the profiles for you and your wife are really different verify the profile location for each: At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button , then select Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Folder > Open Folder.
This will open the profile folder within Windows Explorer.
Will that not delete her profile under her own windows logon ?
The profile folders shall be different for your Windows account and the one for your wife. Then one won't affect the other, regardless of what you do in your's.

Did you copy over the Thunderbird profile from your wife's Windows account to your Windows account?
Hi Christ1 and thanks for the speedy reply. I did not intentionally copy anything - just launched TB under my windows logon and it started downloading the emails. Are you saying that I need to create a new profile for me and delete the profile for my wife under my logon? Will that not delete her profile under her own windows logon ?
cheers
