I am trying to change the color of my homepage from a very ugly orange to a nice shade of blue

What page is currently set as your homepage?
The default about:home doesn't contain any orange on it.
This could help,
NoSquint {web link} NoSquint allows you to adjust the text-only and full-page (both text and images) zoom levels as well as color settings both globally (for all sites) and per site.
