I have problem in pages which are using Java. They are really slow to use. Sometimes I have to click button twice to make it work. Example is a net game page: www.howrse.fi or www.howrse.(insert your countrycode here) .

Make sure your Java (Not JavaScript) is up to date Verify Java and Find Out-of-Date Versions {web link}

Version 8 Update 101 Release date July 2016 http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

Can this also be caused by Wi-Fi? Because I am using Wi-Fi transmitter. Sometimes that transmitter loses connection and I have to press that repair connection button to get connection back. Some times that connecting circle on web address goes round and around and nothing happens on several seconds.

Oh. Firefox saying: Downloading update. I am using beta update channel. Is that good or bad choice?

For the last four months, an epidemic of Fake Notices have been popping up all over the place.

Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Then Help > About Firefox will tell you what version have and check for updates.

Sometimes that connecting animation bar jams on SEVERAL seconds before it moves again. Especially on that web game page.

I am going to buy myself new WI-FI receiver. Maybe that will solve problem. ALSO I will soon get my WIN 7 Computer back so I think problem will disappear that way.

Also on this XP machine: Firefox raises processor usage level to 100% and that sometimes lock this browser totally. I have both connections active: Wired and Wireless. Sometimes that wireless can't connect. It stays on 0% all the time. On that wireless connection I need to use repair connection button several times to get connection working.

Hi   !

I noticed that your   Shockwave Flash needs to be updated   (the latest version is   23.0.r0 ).

Have you tried setting your   Java plug-in to   'never activate'   just to see if that would help   ?

My Shockwave is already updated. How you know my program versions? Is Firefox spying me? De-activating Java? No chance. Several pages need java to work. Soon I will change back to WIN 7 computer and I think after that change this problem will disappear.

Firefox and other browsers give out some information when you use them. Firefox tries to strike a balance between giving out information that could help identify you and giving out information that is needed for websites to work. Mozilla Firefox has strict policies and ideals on privacy.

When you ask a question we ask you to provide further information and the current software will extract information from Firefox's troubleshooting page if you agree. Otherwise all we see is the information any other website will see, and some of that we include on the page where you post your question. Click more system information right edge. (We will change forum software shortly and initially probably lose some of those features - that will make it harder for volunteers to answer questions properly, and will probably mean users may see wrong versions of articles and need to click on menus to see the correct version)

For an interesting demonstration visit

Remember if you wish to view Flash content such as video clips the website you visit needs to know you can use FlashPlayer or equivalent.

Java is hardly needed or used please see

Note that Java does carry security risks and besides being phased out by Firefox it is likely to be dropped by its current owners in the not too distant future.

Oracle plans to deprecate the Java browser plugin
in Java Standard Edition Development Kit 9 (JDK 9).
Deprecation is a warning for developers to stop using this technology.

Yeah! I just took my WIN 7 - Computer back in action and that lag TOTALLY dissapeared. I think problem was that WIN XP O/S.

Yippee   !!!     Problem solved then, eh   ?!
Would you be a dear and mark   your  last post as   Chosen Solution, so others will know and won't start looking for a solution   ?
Thank you   !

It may well be worth considering the age and capabilities of the two different computers. I am not going to try out http://www.howrse.co.uk/ (or http://www.howrse.com/ ) but I suspect if I did test out what happened I may get different results on a single core 32 bit processor on Windows XP and a quad core 64 bit processor on Windows 7 or 10.

Even if the multi core and 64 bit processing has no effect the speed, memory, internal caching and graphics capabilities will have improved.

Obviously I never did try to check whether that site does require Java (or only Javascript) but I think current plans may be that Firefox 51 will be the last version to be able to use Java.
