I refreshed Firefox and have lost my bookmarks and they are not saved anywhere (do not appear in old Firefox data folder) so I can not import them. Is there anyway to get them back? Maybe by restoring the previous version ( although I don't know how to do that).

Hi Rexegeria, sorry to hear about the problem. When you say --

I refreshed Firefox and have lost my bookmarks and they are not saved anywhere (do not appear in old Firefox data folder) so I can not import them.

-- what file(s) were you looking for? Normally you should have several backups in a folder named bookmarkbackups in your old profile folder. These are compressed and have a .jsonlz4 extension.

The method to restore those to your new Firefox is use "restore" instead of "import". Please see the following article for more info: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Does that work?

Firefox would normally preserve the bookmarkbackups folder with its compressed .jsonlz4 backups when you create a new profile via the refresh feature in Firefox.

Did you check this in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)?

  • Bookmarks -> Show All Bookmarks -> Import & Backup > Restore

Do you have a places.sqlite file in the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop?
