Is to delete cache from a single Site the right choice for making sure i am viewing the most updated version of its slideshow?
Hi!
I have been trying all evening to figure this one out, but in all the forums i have read everyone seems to disagree or say there is no real solution.
Basically, I am an artist member of my local group, and we each have a page on its website. Some of the artists have slideshows in their allotted image space, and some only a single picture. I had a single pic, but then i asked the designer to change mine to be a slideshow with 6 different pix. She just emailed me that she finshed it for me.
However, when i visited to check it, i could only see one still picture, not the slideshow i should have. Perhaps she did it incorrectly, as she is brand new to the webdesigner position.
But, before i tell her she did not do it correctly, i wanted to make sure. So, i revisited other artists' pages, and verified that their slideshows were working. And yes, they are all working fine.
Then, i refreshed my page to make sure there too. And did it again. Still, just one static pic.
Then i thought, well maybe somehow the page is keeping this old content... so i wonder if that means "clearing the cache" would make a difference??
But from what i read about the cache, it pertains to storing extra web info on your hard drive, and the issue is about storage and maybe RAM, not about refreshing a page...
Can someone help me understand this properly? (As simply as possible please, with easy to understand analogies, if you can-- i am very basic in my knowledge of tech things!)
And please let me know how i can, in the most simple way possible, be sure (or reasonably sure) that i am viewing my web page as it stands today (not as it stood two days ago, before any changes would have been made to it!)
Thank you!

{Ctrl + F5} will reload the webpage and by-pass the cache.
Also = {Ctrl + Shift + R} along with = {Shift + Reload button} - (in the Location Bar)

See Page Manipulation = Force Reload Page (override cache)

The cache contains parts of the page that Firefox stores so they do not need to be retrieved again. That can include the html of the page, individual images, external style sheet files, and external script files. Often those external files are the problem, because Firefox seems to be less observant about possible updates to those.
thanks guys for the great info! :)
so, which category would my webpage's slideshow fit under? is it an "individual image"? "html" of the page? "external file"? or... (something else that doe not count as being in the "cache"?
I'm sure there are many ways to specify the images to be displayed in a slide show so it depends on how your site is coded.
