Images not shown in emails v52.5.0 (32-bit)
Hi, I am currently using Thunderbird v 52.5.0 (32-bit). When I open an email, no images are shown. There isn't any replacement text like whatever.jpg nor a box where the image should be. And it doesn't help to open the email in a new tab. Also when I go back to older emails before this started happening, they are affected too. This is a fairly recent change...maybe a week or two. I checked the settings for TBird and I have "Allow remote content in messages" checked.
I've also noticed that when I do click on a link in an email, it takes a good 30-45 seconds for it to open up the link in Chrome when it used to be immediate.
Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance, Lisa

Good to hear. Now you mention it, there have been reports of restarting Windows in Safe Mode with networking and then back into normal mode fixing this. I assume that sets or clears something related to your security software.

The most likely cause is your security software not detecting the recent (November 23) update of Thunderbird, or intercepting content considered as being insecure for another reason. You could check by either opening the Help (menu) > What's new page in Thunderbird, or by restarting Windows in Safe Mode with networking enabled.
A possibly related question can be found here. If you use a Kaspersky product, chances are that may be the culprit. Make sure to let it update, and uninstall and reinstall when needed. In fact that goes for any security product. You may just need to disable one if their components instead.
Hi Tonnes, Thank you for your response.
I restarted Windows 10 in safe mode with networking enabled. I checked the emails but they still were not working, so I just restarted my computer normally. For whatever reason, that's all it took to fix the problem. I did not change else.
Thank you for your help! p.s. I am not using Kaspersky.
