I entered a new contact name for an email address, but thunderbird then changed for all previous emails.

There is a new contact name for an email address. I changed the contact name in my address book, but then Thunderbird changed the contact name on all previous emails. Is there any way for my previous emails from this address to show the previous contact name, and subsequent emails to show the new contact name?

No. It matches email addresses with the data you have in the address book.
