I at the moment I'm trying to write an e-mail, and for no apparent reason T-bird has started adding an extra space between the lines. I've tried to find a way to remove the extra space, but so far without success. Could somebody please tell me how to remove the empty space between the lines. I would also like to know how to go about preventing this from happening again!

Are you pressing the 'Enter/Return' key each time you get to the end of a line ?

If you keep typing, thunderbird should wrap to next line.

By default pressing the 'Enter/Return' key will create a new paragraph and so leave an extra line.

If you want to set default as 'Body Text' and pressing the 'Enter/Return' key goes to next line:

  • Menu icon > Options > Composition > 'General' tab
  • uncheck: 'Use paragraph format instead of Body Text by default'
  • clickon 'OK'

Please note that if creating a numerical etc list then you will still discover an additional line appears before and after the list.

In answer to your question, I do try to use the 'Enter/Return' key. And I checked "Menu icon > Options > Composition > 'General' tab' page, and the 'Use paragraph format instead of Body Text by default' option is unchecked. It doesn't happen all the time, and I have a devil of a time trying to remove the empty space between the lines. Another possibility is the Keyboard that I'm using. I have noticed in the past that pressing some keys the first time, do not always give me the correct results on my PC, so I have to correct the error and re-enter the data. It is possible that what I'm experiencing may be due to some medication that I am currently taking. So I will try to remember your answer to my question in the future. Thank you for sending me your ideas on where this problem that I'm having, could possibly be.
