Logins and Passwords is requesting my system password
Firefox Browser (76.0? &) 76.0.1 64-bit (new behaviour described below presented prior to browser restart to get to 76.0.1) asking for system password just to see stored passwords ... is this a legitimate change to Firefox's Security implementation(s)? Or is there some malware associated with Firefox and / or on my Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit OS system waiting to pounce on my (Administrator-level) system password? FYI - I do not, and, never have, used a Master Password within Firefox.

Hello K_McIntosh,
Would you please take a look at this article; it will explain what you are seeing :
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/lockwise-password-authentication-prompt
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
In case you don't want to see that prompt every time :
Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter.
(ignore the warning)
Type in the search bar and look for the preference :
signon.management.page.os-auth.enabled
Change its value to false.
Then close and restart Firefox.
(this preference may be removed sometime in the near future )

Thank you McCoy for your extremely rapid and helpful response ... I appreciate it ...
This change to Firefox's behaviour is unwelcome ... another little slice of life lost to the digital realm ... especially since no specific browser Restart / Re-launch prompt advised me of this new Security functionality.
Thank you for the about:config solution - it has been implemented. K_McIntosh
I'm glad that I could help.
