Filtering subfolders on IMAP
I use Outlook.com for one of my e-mail addresses. Their junk mail filter has a staggering number of false positives, and there is no way around it inside the Outlook.com system. Real e-mails are marked as junk and then permanently deleted after a fixed amount of time, which leads to important e-mails being lost forever if you don't check the junk folder every few days.
Is there any way to automatically copy all mail that shows up in the Junk folder to a local folder so I don't lose any more important e-mails?

Loads of people do not appreciate the problem you are experiencing.
They have asked people to support their quest to get it altered:
Thunderbird auto filters only on the Inbox.
You can set up a filter to run manually on the 'Junk/spam' folder to mark all emails as 'Not Junk' and move them to eg: another folder that you have created like 'SortJunk', so at least they do not get auto deleted.
- 'Menu icon' > Message Filters > Message Filters
- Click on New
- Give suitable name like 'Move Junk'
- Select only the 'Manually Run' option.
- Select 'Match all messages'
Perform action:
- 'Set junk status to' > 'Not junk'
- Move Message to > select folder eg: SortJunk
When you want to use -
- Select the Junk folder
- In the Message Filters
- Select the 'Move Junk' filter and make sure it is enabled in checkbox.
- Run selected filters on > select the account junk folder if not already selected.
- click on 'Run Now'
Then after logging on each day, run that filter on the Junk folder. If run once a day, that should catch them before they get deleted.
