Hello. I have created a website that I wish to share the link with friends by email. Unfortunately, when I try to send an email using Mozilla Thunderbird with this link in the text I get the following error message: "An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded: We're sorry, but we can't send your email. Either the subject matter, a link, or an attachment potentially contains spam, or phishing or malware. Please check or edit your message and try sending it again. (6-1-3-2) ID (5ED9AFBE0769DC44). Please check the message and try again." However, when I use BT email directly, sending an email with this link is no problem and it also works when sending the link directly via gmail. So, the problem must be with Mozilla Thunderbird. How do I tell Thunderbird that my link is not spam, phishing nor malware? If it helps, the website link I'm trying to send is https://abbeyquilters.wixsite.com/kelso, and I am using a desktop PC with windows 10. Thank you.

Try sending only the link to yourself. Still a problem?

Hi - thanks for the quick reply. Sending only the link to myself using Firefox gives me the same error message, but works ok when I send the link to myself via BT mail and Gmail server accounts.

Hello Macstubie,

As you mention using Thunderbird; maybe you'd like to post your
question on the Thunderbird support forum, using this link :

The problem isn't with TB, but with the spam/scam detection rules of BT, and these filters are probably different for sending through the BT smtp servers with mail clients like TB, instead of through BT webmail. The issue may not be with sending a link, but sending a link to several recipients, which looks like spam. Do you get the same error sending to a single contact? Are you sending to a mailing list or multiple contacts? Are you sending to a number of contacts that is within the BT limits? The error may be misleading, e.g. it complains about subject matter, when the actual issue is number of recipients.

All good points sfhowes, unfortunately the problem also occurs when I attempt to send the attachment to only myself, so even if just one recipient. This has happened on two different PC's both using TB as their email client.

Given the error is generated by BT, what do they have to say about why you are getting it?

@ sfhowes and Matt :

Could this be a clou ?

I've just done another test to try sending my website link to myself in TB and the same error message came up again saying the mail server can't send my email and no email was received in my inbox - but, when I looked into my "sent" folder in TB there was the email I just tried to send! So, I opened it and forwarded this "sent" email in TB with my website attachment to myself - and this time it worked and was delivered to my TB inbox! Does this make sense to anyone why I can't send an email with this link but can forward it in TB?
