Thunderbird is my email choice and been using it for years. Trouble started when I got McAfee account and am now trying Firefox VPN but results are the same.

bottom line is both Google and Micrisift expect you to be in something like your home location when sending mail. your VPN actually hides that information. so I guess you best bet is ask yourself exactly why you would want a VPN and what it is doing for you.
Short of hiding my location so I can see the USA netfix I can not see a VPN doing anything for me at all.
