I can no longer disable dark mode with latest update?
I updating firefox last night and now everything is like its in dark mode. The theme I am using is mostly dark, but it was last updated in 2019, so no changes to the theme. When I open a new tab, the page is black instead of white, etc. Is there a way to disable dark mode without changing my theme? It worked fine before I updated.

You can change this pref on the about:config page from 3 to 2 to revert to the Firefox 94 behavior.
- layout.css.prefers-color-scheme.content-override [dark:0, light:1, system:2, browser:3]
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

This didn't entirely fix it. The link bar at the bottom (not sure what its called, but it shows up when you hover over a link) is still black, along with the firefox menu bar.
You can only fix that by selecting a theme that has dark text on the tabs instead of light text.

But my theme has been the same for years, it was only this latest update that changed things
WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Firefox pref from the about:config page can sometimes break Firefox or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing.
Please read Firefox Advanced Customization and Configuration Options to learn more.

Yes, this is a change in Firefox 96. Someone decided that if you like light text on a dark background on your toolbars, you probably would like it everywhere. Hopefully in the future there will be a checkbox for that since many people view their toolbar theme as purely decorative and not in any way indicating their theming preference. But for now...
the about:config does nothing; at least on my end. Since this "NewDefault" setting; i.e. idiotic faulty thinking; which I will refer to from now on as a TGS "Teen Gamers Setting" is causing loading of websites to be at least 2X longer. It first tries to load the page in TSG first, then reloads it in the Normal Adult Day Mode. Another issue is that YAHOO is now prompting me every time I log on; which I've been a member of Yahoo since 1994; that the latest version of Firefox is now Not Comparable with all the features of Yahoo. Why is this suddenly an issue?? Is this because FF has built-in anti-tracking features? Is it that the new platform isn't written for any platform other than a tiny cellphone?? To be honest here, Yahoo has maybe 15% of the features as it had only 10 years ago. Please correct at least issue #1; which is the ridiculous TGS feature that is a Faulty default setting. BTW, I also strictly used Netscape Navigator until the first iterations of FF became available. As you can see, I use what works well; irregardless of what the current fad is; again your TGS fault!

Could you switch to the Light theme and test what happens with pages in that scenario:
- Ctrl+Shift+A (on Mac, Command+Shift+A)
- Click Themes in the left column
- Scroll down to Light and click its Enable button

What do you mean by prompting you?
It's an overlay dialog style box that loads on top of the regular mail screen. I have to click the "Continue as-is" then it has to reload the entire page again. I don't know if this matters but here's what I'm using: Dell desktop, Win10 OS, FF (just auto updated last night), MalwarebytesPRO (active virus software), KAMO VPN automatically loads upon launching FF (added on 12/18/2021) and had no adverse reaction other than slowing my system down about 20% when online. Also I cannot revert to day mode when opening a new tab; not when clicking a link. Unlike others that I've also read issues about; my address & search boxes are all black w gold/yellow lettering instead of being the normal white box & black lettering. I mean; seriously; are you hosting raves there and allowing any wannabe to change the "faulty" default setting? Go Back To Normal....PLEASE!

Is it complaining about not being able to run a script? Or trying to sell you an upgraded service? I'm trying to figure out what is the alternative to continuing As Is in case that provides a clue about what you're seeing.

Did you already make the switch to the Light theme?
Neither. I posted this in another part of the forum but forgot to add it here. The dialog box is saying that FF will have issues with Yahoo &/or Yahoo Mail if I continue to use this browser. It says to download & use either: Chrome, IE, Opera, DuckDuckGo, Brave . It says I might have usability, viewing issues, breakage if I don't use the other browsers. I just read that this might be caused by FF not having identifiable platform ID's (i.e. Desktop, Laptop, Tablet, Phone). Would you be able to check the correctness of that statement? Does that mean I will have issues accessing Yahoo/Yahoo Mail from any platform other than a cell? BTW, I do Not have a cell since I became my Mother's sole caregiver 5 years ago. If I'm not at work, I'm at home and anyone that's here w/Mom while I'm at work has my work number. Please verify that it's the previews and not the latte since I won't be able to access my mail soon; by the way things are going.

Thanks, I'll look at your other question so we can keep this thread focused on the theming.
