I recently received an email from microsoft stating that after 16th September I may not be able to access my Hotmail account using third party email apps. I only use Thunderbird on my win 7 computer.

Will I still be able to access this account with Thunderbird??

Thank you

Rob

Update: Unfortunately I've tried all the settings I've found on here but hotmail doesn't seem to work with the new settings. I've taken a screen shot of my original settings which I'll include. As of right now, after trying the new settings, I can't access my Hotmail. Following are the messages I see when I try:

                                • @hotmail.com: Host contacted, sending login information. After a few minutes I get a message that it has timed out.
****************@hotmail.com: There are no new messages However, I sent 2 messages via Thunderbird to my hotmail account (which does send the messages). I went into my Hotmail account via my browser to confirm that the emails were sent and received.

I tried changing Server Type to: outlook.office365.com, smtp.office365.com I've changed the port to: 587 then back to 995. None of these work. There also aren't separate settings for incoming or outgoing settings that I can find. I've also included a screenshot of the Thunderbird about box showing version information.

As of now I have reverted the settings back to what they were and I got the 2 test emails I sent. I have no idea why the OAuth2 settings won't work. I also tried the Port: 587. The default didn't change from 995 even after restarting Thunderbird. I should also mention that I restarted Thunderbird after each change I made to the server settings.

First image is original settings. Second image is about screen for Thunderbird

I'm out of ideas. Nothing seems to work so far. One last question for now. Are there settings after I log into Hotmail via my browser that need to be changed??

Thank you

Rob

So, you solved it yourself and need no assistance. That was the message. Congratulations. Yes, hotmail users have converted easily.
