Sync from Thunderbird to Gmail is extremely slow! Why?
I am using Thunderbird to migrate mailfolders from an old email account to my new Gmail accout.
I connected both email accounts to Thunderbird by IMAP. That was a piece of cake. All the folders from my old account synced rapidly with Thunderbird.
Then I started copying (in Thunderbird) email folders from my old account to my Gmail account. But that turned out to be a major problem. In the activity window I can see that the copy speed is in the order of more than 1 second per (simple) email.
What can be the problem?

That speed isn't unusual. An number of factors can be at play:
- gmail throttling activity
- message indexing, which you can temporarily disable in the new account - right+click the folder > properties > uncheck "include messages in this folder ..."
- gmail's "All Mail" folder, which you don't need in Thunderbird - right+click on the account > subscribe > find and uncheck the "All Mail" folder
- antivirus software on Windows - start windows in safe mode, if Thunderbird is faster look for settings in AV to exclude Thunderbird's profile directory
I tried to unsubscribe "All mail", but it takes ages before the "folders to unsubscribe to" appeared!
Isn't the Gmai's "All mail" it's archive folder? I've unsubscribed and now don't have a folder for archive selected.
