Problems with gmail on TB

Setting up a gmail acct & running windows 10 + TB 115.10.1 All incoming email works fine, but outgoing to gmail consisitently fails & gives a timeout message (timeout in 2 minutes). I've tried numerous SMTP settings :

smtp.gmail.com port = 465 and 587 SSL/TLS OAuth2, encrypted, and normal authentication

i have another non gmail account that sends mail just fine using all the above variations. Do i need a longer timeout? If so, i cant see how to set that. Is this just a gmail problem?? Thanks! - JLPE

Don't guess the settings - use smtp.gmail.com, 465, SSL/TLS, or 587, STARTTLS; OAuth2, email address.

Disable antivirus scanning of the profile folder (or remove the AV if it's not Windows Security), and disable VPN if in use.

Update to the latest 115: https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/115.18.0/win64/
