When my computer crashed we tried to save the settings and a "bookmarks*.json file got save. I can't figure out how to restore this.

My computer (running Vista) crashed and we were able to back stuff up in safe mode. We upgraded it to Windows 7. Attempting to backup the Firefox settings a "backups 2010_07_01.json" file got created. We can't figure out how to restore settings.
