5 days ago I downloaded a trail version of Babylon translating software. After 1 day I didnt like this software and uninstalled. When I start firefox search.babylon opens the first tab and appears on my screen. Iahve search for all files on my pc with the words "babylon" and deleted the results. This did not help. How do I get rid of babylon totally.

Check to make sure that it did not change your home page. For details see how to set the home page.

Also make sure that it did not install an add-on in Firefox, if it did you can uninstall it in the add-ons manager, see uninstalling add-ons.

Babylon sucks as it took over my firefox. I removed Babylon from programs and the c drive file. But it wouldn't leave firefox. "How to set the home page" brought me to the default restore. SO FAR SO GOOD!

I had the same problem and couldn't find it in my uninstall a program section. so i deleted it from the search engine searches and that still didn't work. I figured it out tho. On firefox click the tools tab then add ons.. and when you see babylon, click to remove it, and it restarts firefox and problem is solved.

I have uninstalled the babylon toolbar. I have deleted the add-on from both my IE and my FF. I have searched my computer for any other traces of the search and deleted a folder I found in my appdata file. I've looked in the Mozilla file for this redirect and find it in the about:config but can't get rid of it. I have reset the homepage but to no avail. I reset my homepage and then when I close the Firefox it gets reset to the Search Babylon. I can't get rid of this no matter how hard I try. I've done a scan of my computer for spyware and cookies, I've cleaned my registry. I don't know what else to do or where to find this thing but it definitely bugs me that I don't want it and I can't get rid of it. There should be some criminal prosecution for shenanigans like this by a company that represents itself as safe.

I FOUND IT!!! Look at the search toolbar... See the little arrow to the right of it? Click on the arrow and manage search click "manage search engines"!! This was really ticking me off! I had already gone through and deleted addons, uninstalled everything... SO GLAD TO FINALLY GET RID OF THIS NUISANCE!!

This did it - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/773310#answer-176865 (see chosen answer) - its a two step process you need to perform second step as well to be effective -- both steps take place inside about:config

Once you see all of the strings when you search for babylon in about:config will kind of make you mad... so be prepared and just diligently reset each line.

I finally got rid of that nag completely today! Do any of you have the program "HighjackThis"? If not you can DL it here: http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html. Run it, Do a "system scan only", it will scan your computer in about 3 seconds. You'll see a list of things in your PC starting maybe with R0, there are a lot of programs there, RI's,02's,etc, but the one that had Babylon in it for me, began with R0 and it was right at the top because it's a problem in the PC. If it's not at the top start scrolling, when you see one with Babylon in it, check the box and go down and tick "fix checked" That should wipe it from the PC, did for me!! So far so good!

Let me know.
