Running Windows 7 Professional, and Firefox 3.6.8, and now when I start Firefox, the Bookmarks Toolbar [if I set it to "view"] occupies 3 horizontal rows, with a slider on the right side to show more rows. Previously, it showed one row only, with the ability to use a down arrow on the right end of the row to access other Bookmarks. I only want to show one horizontal row -- otherwise it takes too much screen space from the window itself!

Such a feature is most likely added by an extension (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions).

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

Thank you, cor-el, my problem is solved. I read your reply and found that MultirowBookmarksToolbar 5.0 was causing problem -- I don't remember ever installing this -- and it is obvious, now that you have pointed me in the right direction! flog
