browser has blocked an attempt to log out of this application properly
Had been using bank site for long time. Logout is done by clicking logout and a overlay appears that you click to log out. Today when the overlay appeared I clicked as usual and got the error message browser has blocked an attempt to log out of this application properly. . Manual log out works. fine
Have used site for years with no problem. Have another bank with same logout procedure it works fine. Tried it with IE8 and logout works fine.
bank is not helpful

I know there only 25 of us but PLEASE can someone just give a hint as to what we are dealing with?
Thanks
I have found a solution to the error.
Open Mozilla Firefox, go to Tools-->Options and look for the Content Tab
Under the Content Tab, make sure 'Block pop-up windows' is checked. If it is not, please check the box. Click Ok to accept the change.
Then in the address bar, type 'about:config' and press enter.
A message appears saying "This might void your warranty! Changing these advanced settings can be harmful to the stability, security, and performance of this application. You should only continue if you are sure of what you are doing"
Click the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button.
In the 'Filter' field at the top of the browser, type signed.applets.codebase_principal_support
When you have located that field, Right-Click on it and select Toggle until the fields say "user set // boolean // true"
Close your browser and open it up again.
Sign back into your account and log off again.
You will get a message basically saying you accept the changes to your browser. Once you accept this, you will not get this message again.
Thank you. Made the changes and it worked However, an internet security warning appeared saying that this allows a script to run that could be UNSAFE and warns only to allow it to run if you trust the site. I changed back to previous setting
Have send all the material to the banks involved they all use netteller.com wonder if that is what others who are having similar problem are also using.
Change just occurred a few days ago
So what are the relative degrees of risk among:
1. Use Firefox and allow the script as above,
2. Use IEX8,
3. Just close the window?
not sure how broadlyproblem is occurring. Was introduced by a third party vender to local banks. The local banks use Ie8 as their browser so were not impacted. Their employees who use firefox on their private accounts simply made the changes trusting their vender. I'm not certain as I fear it might open the computer to other venders. I have no choice but to trust the bank site, but not sure if the suggested change allows other sites that might be less trustworthy to have more access to the computer.
That's the technical question some has to answer. Far beyond my knowledge base.
I disabled the block pop-up blocker and that worked for me. I have had www.netteller.com listed in the pop-up blocker exceptions list and added cm.netteller.com, but that didn't help. I wonder if there is some other URL that could effectively to be added to the exceptions list? (I'm running Windows XP.)
I too have this problem with my bank which uses netteller.com. I'm running Firefox 3.6.17 on a MacBook w/OS 10.5.8. Note: Problem does not occur with Safari so I can only assume it's a Firefox issue.
