Why am I forced to upgrade to FF5 without any notification?
So I noticed today that somehow I got magically upgraded to FF5 ... I noticed this after FF kept crashing in Gmail and I started investigating...
So I download FF4 and install it. In the Help/About there is a handy "Check for Updates" button. Since I'm running FF 4.0, I thought that I remembered that there were updates to FF 4 so I clicked the button..
It says it found an update, the update downloaded and did I want to install it. I was given NO INFO about what version I was installing. So I figured that I was getting an updated FF4...
Nope, I was shoved right back into FF5 and instantly started having problems.
Screw that.
Uninstalled FF5 AGAIN... And reinstalled FF 4.0...
Why am I not able to get the latest FF4? Why is it pushing me right into FF5?
The next time I have to uninstall FireFox, I WILL NOT be reinstalling it.
Anyone have any idea why we are being shoved into FF5?
Thanks..

Well it looks like I was wrong... There appear to be no updates to FF4 according to the versions page:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/releases/
Still wish it would tell me what version I was upgrade to...
Firefox does give users a "notification" about an update being available, but if you either miss that window or ignore that "notification", it will time-out in a couple of minutes and just download the update for installation the next time Firefox is opened.
Firefox 5 was a scheduled update under the new Fast Release program. Firefox 6 will come out 6 weeks after Firefox 5.0 was first released on June 21. Firefox 7 and subsequent versions will also be released at 6 week intervals. Looks like Mozilla has developed "browser envy", by trying to follow Google's release schedule for Chrome and by making Firefox look like Chrome. I wonder if Google put something in the water or air out in Mountain View, CA?
