I am not an AVG user; I have tried their free product and uninstalled it soon after the initial installation. From reading on the internet, it appears that when there is a spike in memory usage, AVG "interprets" that as a memory leak, possibly caused by malware. AVG could be incorrect concerning that assumption. Maybe they are being a bit too conservative about memory usage; just my opinion.

The decision is yours to turn off the "advisor" or leave it on.

As far as I am concerned, FF 8 does increase its memory usage from its previous versions, please read this thread:

I am still trying to find time to check my add-ons since I have so many to check. As soon as I find time to do so, I'll post an update in the bug report. I don't know how many add-ons do you have installed, maybe you can try the suggestion to see if one or more add-ons might be the culprit.

I forgot to mention that I did disable the AVG's Advisor since it won't do any good anyway until a solution is being found.
