I cannot open it in safe mode. There are no new crash reports in the /Mozilla/Firefox/Crash Reports folder neither in "Pending" nor "Submitted". The error message reads "Firefox has stopped working" I've also tried reinstalling to no avail.

Found out that "kdump.dll" is a file used by my anti-virus software- Kingsoft Antivirus. I disabled Kingsoftand now I can use Firefox, so there obviously a conflict between these two softwares. Please advise someone in charge of Firefox's coding to rectify this issue so that I can use these two softwares simultaneously.

Can you start Firefox in Safe mode?

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
  • On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
  • Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

As I said, I cannot open it in safe mode. I can't access tools because firefox.exe crashes immediately after opening it.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

I could open it in Safe mode with no issue. While I was in safe mode I disabled hardware acceleration. I restarted the computer normally, but firefox still crashes immediately after opening it.

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.

  • You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

I can't access it via about:crashes because firefox crashes immediately upon opening it. I can access crash reports through windows explorer, though I'm unsure whether that is the same thing. Here is the last crash report I received, however like I said originally, there have been no new crash reports since I started having this problem and I would assume this report will be unrelated to my problem.

  • bp-b723ebdc-e38a-4258-8de5-a44562120812

I received this report approximately five hours prior to upgrading Firefox to 15.0.1 at a time when I could use Firefox without issues.

I apologise if my last message is difficult to read, I do not yet know how to add paragraphs using this service.

That is a problem with the Flash plugin.

You can check for problems caused by recent Flash updates and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update RealPlayer
  • disable protected mode in Flash 11.3 and later
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin
  • downgrade to Flash 11.2 or 10.3

Yeah, I thought as much. What can I do about my main problem though? I'm only concerned with getting Firefox to open without crashing.

The Event Viewer in Administrative Tools reads that "kdump.dll" may be at fault. The entire text reads "Faulting application firefox.exe, version 15.0.1.4631, time stamp 0x5047f9c5; faulting module kdump.dll, version 2011.8.12.2189, time stamp 0x4e44ac37, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x000013c8, process id 0x130, application start time 0x01cd8ec3be509e80.", all of the error messages read smething similar with only the process id altering. I've no idea if this is helpful.
