Very often Firefox 22.0 will show me a blank bookmarks toolbar: no bookmarks, no folders, no », nothing but an empty gray bar.

When this happens, I can repopulate the toolbar by doing a right click up at the top, remove the check mark for Bookmarks Toolbar, then right click again and restore the check mark for Bookmarks Toolbar.

This is not acceptable. The Bookmarks Toolbar should remain fully populated without my having to intervene regularly.

I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3. A previous response to a similar question mentioned that using RDP the Windows XP RDP client can make this happen. I do use RDP regularly. How do I avoid having it cause this issue with Firefox's Bookmarks Toolbar (if indeed it's actually RDP client use that is doing it)?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information such as bookmarks and history.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.
