I did a fresh OS install and got Firefox as usual. When starting though I noticed it wasn't asking to save any password. Happened on every site that I know allowed for the option. I'm not in private browsing mode, I'm allowing to save passwords (with no exceptions), I reset the key3.db and signons.sqlite files, but nothing has changed.

Also noticed when I saved a bookmark through Ctrl+D I'd get no prompt asking where to save it. It seems to be a wider issue. I've been stuck on how to solve this. Any help would be appreciated.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

Ah, it seems to be my theme that's causing it. Never had issues with it before (DeepDark, been using variations of it for years now out of tradition), so not sure why. I'll search for another one I suppose.
