Hey guys. The problem actually bothers me for a while.

If I input a URL in an (microsoft) Excel Cell then turn it into a hyperlink, when I click on it. The Firfox, which is my default net browser will pop up and show the page I request. But there always has an extra tabs show some other things. Here is a sample:

The url I request is: http://privacy.microsoft.com/zh-cn/default.mspx

OK, the page is showed up and an extra tab's url is: http://privacy.microsoft.com/zh-cn/default.mspxFirefoxHTML%5CShell%5COpen%5CCommand

the later part: 【FirefoxHTML%5CShell%5COpen%5CCommand】 is automatally added behind the url I request. And the correspond page reads: The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

how to fix this problem? and many thanks.:)

Hi ,

First thing , make sure your firefox is upto date . If Yes , still facing the problem then do the following :

Force Fx to redo the default browser settings by temporarily setting IE as the default browser. Control Panel > Internet Options: Programs Put a check in the box next to "Internet Explorer should check to see whether it is the default browser" Start IE and let IE make itself the default browser.

Deselect that setting in IE and start Fx to make it the default browser. Tools > Options > Main > System Defaults: "Always check to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup"

Source: Seen in a forum .

Let me know , if it works for you !

Can you post the original link you have in Excel. We need to see what the full link looks like.

Thanks MozRaj. Your solution works!

I think the problem is caused by the anti-virus software I installed. Since the process I set the default browser, there are alarms of "Changing Default Browser" poped up from time to time.

Again, I wanna say thank you. Good day!

Hi, FredMcD, thanks for your concern.

I have solved the problem according to MozRaj's solution.

The URL I put in Excel is the exact one on my first post here, which is an ordianary one.

Again I appreciate your help, and may you have a good day!
