Experimental Features

can you try with the catalyst beta graphics driver from http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-artic.../latest-catalyst-windows-beta.aspx? catalyst 14.4 has been blocklisted for direct2d because of stability issues in firefox 32 (bug #984488).

Try to create a new Boolean pref on the about:config page via the right-click context menu with the name layout.paint_rects_separately and set the value to true and leave hardware acceleration and Direct2D enabled.

philipp's suggestion worked :) Thank you! I'm now using Firefox 32 and the fonts are all good. Installing AMD Catalyst beta 14.7 fixed it.

I am having the same problem with Firefox 33(I think it started with 32).

If I revert to Firefox 31, the fonts display as they should and they look great. I installed AMD Catalyst beta 14.7, but that didn't bring any luck!!

Only by downgarding the Firefox version, I am able to get the fonts render properly.

Any thoughts?

Did you already try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox?

• Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Guess, I will need to revert to Firefox 31 and wait for this to be fixed sometime soon.

You can check if ClearType is enabled system wide for all programs to make other programs like Firefox use it.

I forgot to mention, ClearType is on system wide. I am attaching two screenshots, where you can clearly see the jagged edges on the fonts.

Also, I have a case of totally wrong rendering of one font(museo sans).

I know that I am not crazy, because if I downgrade to Firefox 31, both the jagged edges and Museo Sans render correctly.

I recently had a windows update yesterday and yes all of my drivers are updated but still nothing works. I even went through ClearType and resetting Firefox to no avail. Youtube's hyperlinks and Google's hyperlinks seem to be a bit blocky ever since. Disabling hardware acceleration did not work but I did find something that made it easier to see the fonts: - Go to your Firefox options and choose Content. - In Content choose advanced settings. - In Advanced settings, make sure to uncheck the box that says:

'Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above. After unchecking the box, click ok'

- I chose my own font preference (Georgia) and every page was reloaded with the changed setting. That made things look a little bit better. Note: This isn't the ultimate solution to this problem but rather a work around until SOMETHING is done. If this doesn't work for you, I'm sorry. :/
