How do I reveal a password that is now scrambled
Recently, I found that one of my saved passwords is scrambled using stars, ie ******* The rest are all normal numbers and/or letters and characters. I'm looking at it in the list of saved passwords found under Tools, Options, Security, Saved Passwords. I'm using FF 36 on a Dell laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium

Hi TimDinBend, Did you recently install a password manager or set a master password?
Put this in the url bar to check: chrome://pippki/content/resetpassword.xul
Saved Password Editor {web link} Adds the ability to create and edit entries in the password manager.
Show My Password {web link} You are annoyed because your password fields are always scrambled though nobody else but you can see the screen? This most advanced unscrambling addon shows your passwords in readable letters, while being fully customizable to fit your needs.
If this password shows as a string of '*' in the Password Manager when you have clicked View Passwords then it is likely that this password is stored as such, especially if other passwords show. If that is the case then you won't be able to recover this password. It is possible that there is JavaScript used on the page with the login form that scrambles the password after it has processed the password and possibly copied it to a hidden field in the form making Firefox store the scrambled password instead of the actual password.
