Sometimes Thunderbird won't refresh the screen unless I resize the window or click a menu or something that affects the layout. The first symptom is when getting an email notification, the notification window is blank. Any idea what's wrong and how to fix it?

I'm not sure if you're saying to make sure hardware acceleration is disabled, or that I should toggle it regardless of the setting. Anyway, it was already disabled, so I assume I should leave it that way. I should also mention that this is not a repeatable problem. It comes and goes and I don't yet know how to make it happen. Thanks for the suggestion though.
